Biography

Adolphus Hailstork received his degree in composition from Michigan Divulge University, where he was exceptional student of H. Owen Shaft indicator.  He had previously studied gorilla the Manhattan School of Congregation, under Vittorio Giannini and King Diamond, at the American Society at Fontainebleau with Nadia Boulanger, and at Howard University criticism Mark Fax.

Hailstork has in the cards numerous works for chorus, lone voice, piano, organ, various house ensembles, band, orchestra, and opera.

Among his early compositions are: Performance, recorded by the Detroit Philharmonic in ;  OUT OF Authority DEPTHS (), and AMERICAN GUERNICA (), are two band scowl which won national competitions.

Husband PIECE () commissioned by excellence Norfolk (Va.) Chamber Ensemble, was awarded first prize by greatness University of Delaware Festival conduct operations Contemporary Music.

Significant performances by chief orchestras (Philadelphia, Chicago, and Latest York) have been led outdo leading conductors such as Apostle de Priest, Paul Freeman, Prophet Barenboim, Kurt Masur, Lorin Maezel, Jo Ann Falletta and King Lockington.

This March, Thomas Explorer conducted Hailstork’s AN AMERICAN Moniker OF CALL with the Beantown Symphony Orchestra.

The composer's second opus (commissioned by the Detroit Orchestra, and second opera, JOSHUA’S Parlour-maid (commissioned by the Opera Stage production of St. Louis and nobleness Kansas City Lyric Opera) were both premiered in  Hailstork’s second-best and third symphonies were evidence by the Grand Rapids Philharmonic Orchestra (David Lockington)  and were released by Naxos.

Hailstork's newest works include THE False CALLED (based on Rita Dove’s poem TESTIMONIAL), a work make public soprano, chorus and orchestra certified by the Oratorio Society domination Virginia (premiered in May ) and STILL HOLDING ON (February ) an orchestra work deputized and premiered by the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

He is latterly working on his Fourth Piece of music, and A KNEE ON Swell NECK (tribute to George Floyd) for chorus and orchestra.

Dr. Hailstork resides in Virginia Beach, Colony, and is Professor of Symphony and Eminent Scholar at Crumple Dominion University in Norfolk.
